A downloadable game

Turning Tides is a paper based versus game where you aim to outsmart your opponent and sink their ship.

Rules:

The game consists of 2 phases, the prep phase and reveal phase. At the start of prep phase both players choose which card they want to play and set them down. During reveal phase both players show their cards and do the required actions stated on the cards

The only way the player is able to obtain new cards is if their previously played card states they can draw more cards or that the player’s hand is empty. If the player’s hand is empty, draw the top 5 cards from their respective deck.

Lets Play:

Shuffle the deck of cards then split into 2 even decks. Each player takes a deck then draws the top 5 cards. This will be the players’ starting hand. The game starts at the prep phase. In this phase the players will choose which card to play face down. The game then moves onto the reveal phase. Both players reveal their chosen cards then play the action displayed on the cards.

Attack

Roll the dice, if the number on the dice is equal to or higher than the number on the attack card the attack succeeds and the opposing player loses the appropriate number of tokens described on the attack card.

Block

If the opposing player is using an attack card, negate the attack entirely, even if the attack roll has succeeded.

Draw

Draw the number of cards specified from your deck

Once both players’ actions have been completed the reveal phase ends and the game moves onto the prep phase. This loop repeats until one player’s ship has lost all of their tokens.

Special Cards:

Board
If the enemy player is blocking while this is played the enemy player loses a token, otherwise both players roll the dice, whoever rolls the lowest loses a token

Repair
The player regains a lost token This card cannot increase your maximum number of tokens
